Pastor Rick Boyes is the guest this week on Love>Poverty! Rick is the lead pastor at Gateway Church in London, Ontario. Rick and Joe chat about Gateway’s culture of community, serving and generosity. Rick explains a phrase that he often uses, being “Jesus, with skin on”.
This week we tried to have a bit of a lighter episode with Mike deBoer. Episodes 1-4 were kind of “content heavy” and we wanted to lighten the load as we traversed into the next grouping of episodes. Mike is Compassion Canada’s Artists and Events Representative, the role of his team is to support the artists who love what Compassion stands for, and wants to spread that message. Mike is also a comedian that specializes in improv comedy. Listen in as Joe and Mike have a conversation about how Mike became passionate for serving the poor, and for serving others in sharing their stories and passions.
This week we share a conversation with James Tebyasa. James is a Program Support Specialist for Compassion Uganda who specializes in their WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) initiatives. James also shares his story of being released from poverty.
