John 14:15-24
The purpose of this message is to help you to really understand what it means to love Jesus, what the commandments are that we are to keep, and the tremendous blessings that are promised to those who love Him.
You see, the very essence of the Gospel of Jesus is wrapped up in this 14th Chapter of John, and some of the most important, life-giving, life-altering promises Jesus gives are tied to this statement, “If you love me, you’ll keep my commandments.”
Regrettably, many people think they know what Jesus means, and really don’t have a clue.
Contrary to what a lot of people think Jesus is not saying here, “Show Me you love me by keeping my commandments.”
He says, “If you love me you will.” You see, loving Jesus is not the same as keeping his commandments. Loving Jesus comes before, and the results of loving Him are that we keep His commandments. Keeping His commandments is the fruit that comes forth from loving Him.
