Romans 12:1
Service is called sacrifice – it is spiritual. The spirit was never given for selfish gain. It is for service to others. Service is a sacrifice done selflessly, not begrudgingly or out of obligation, but out of love. Loving service is an important aspect of spiritual growth. It gets your eyes off yourself and your problems and onto helping others.
Romans 12:2-3
The world magnifies self. The highest/most important people get served rather than serving in love. Luke 22:24-27
Romans 12:4-8
EVERYONE has something to give, not just a few. I Peter 4:8-11
I Corinthians 12:14-27
Each and every one received a gift. Everyone has something to give. We are members of one body. Every single member is needed. Even if you don’t believe that you’re needed, it doesn’t change the truth of God’s Word.
What keeps a person volunteering? John 6:66-69 – “Lord to whom shall we go?”
Romans 12:9-13
Service is an important aspect of spiritual growth. It’s not about YOU. It gets you out of yourself and into thinking of others. Ephesians 4:15; Philippians 2:3-7; Luke 10:38-42
We are to serve out of love. Galatians 5:13
Romans 12: 1
Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.
Service is called sacrifice. It is spiritual. It takes a growing up in Christ to serve in love and get your mind off yourself. In love, we are to serve. Our service is to be a spiritual service, not out of obligation, not for our identity, and not for money or anything else. It’s not about you; it’s about serving God, doing God’s will, growing up in Christ.
