When President Trump was reciting ‘Scout’s Law’ a the recent Boy Scout Jamboree, he paused when he got to the second of the nine virtues; loyalty. If there’s one thing that President Trump looks for in his staff, it’s loyalty. He infamously asked former F.B.I. Director, James Comey, for loyalty, which Comey deflected. But what does it actually mean to be loyal? Today on the show, we’re going to talk about loyalty in relationships, in politics, and at the workplace. We’ll talk with DACHER KELTNER, a psychology professor at Berkeley, who has looked at the varying reasons people are, or are not loyal, to others. And, we’ll talk with former Bill Clinton speechwriter and historian JEFF SHESOL, about past Presidents' approach to garnering the loyalty of their staff and their constituents.
