"I am the man who has seen affliction under the rod of God’s wrath.
He has driven me away and forced me to walk in darkness instead of light. Yes, he repeatedly turns his hand against me all day long.
He has laid siege against me, encircling me with bitterness and hardship.
He has made me dwell in darkness like those who have been dead for ages.
He has walled me in so I cannot get out; he has weighed me down with chains
Even when I cry out and plead for help,
he blocks out my prayer...
Because of the Lord’s faithful love we do not perish, for his mercies never end.
They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness!"
~ excerpts from Lamentation 3
The Liminal Spaces Series is a contemplative journey through the Scriptures on the theme of wilderness, growth, and change. It was originally broadcast for the season of Lent, but it can be used at any time of the year.
We invite you into Scripture, reflection, and intentional practices to help you abide in the presence of Jesus and the Word of God, learn by studying the Scriptures, and go with intention to love the world. Each weekday is a 10-12 minute devotional, with the exception of the final four meditations (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Easter Sunday) which are slightly longer.
The Liminal Spaces bibliography can be found on our website.
Scriptures are taken from various translations, the most common being the Common English Bible (CEB), the English Standard Version (ESV), and the New Living Translation (NLT).
