Lucy McGarry shared that there are some great changes happening at The Shed to make it feel more welcoming and easier for people to access. The new door is all about making the place more inviting while still keeping things safe and secure. These changes she hopes will help people to feel welcome and not afraid to come inside.
Lucy is currently at the Shed from Wednesday to Friday, but the goal is to open up at least five days a week. She’ll have her phone number on the door too, so if you knock and no one answers, you can just give her a call.
The Shed is also looking for a few casual and part-time staff to help out with workshops, meetings, and events, plus a new “community mapping” project to keep everyone up to date on what services and programs are available around town.
Tennant Creek's "The Shed" aims to be a flexible, community-driven space rather than a traditional workshop. It offers meeting rooms, training areas, and workspace with Wi-Fi for small businesses, social enterprises, unfunded community groups, and organizations. Pricing will follow a tiered model—free for unfunded community groups, small fees for funded organizations, and standard rates for commercial or government use—to ensure sustainability.
