Ludger Brümmer (*1958) is a composer, and since 2003 he is director of the zkM | institute for Music and Acoustics.
his artistic work is characterized by the use of computers as an art medium for composition and generating electronic sounds. The main focus of his works is frequently the interconnections between the media of music, video, and dance. brümmer studied composition under Nicolaus A. Huber and Dirk Reith at the folkwang hochschule in essen, and held a DAAD scholarship at the center for computer research in Music and Accoustics at stanford University in california from 1991 until 1993. This was followed by teaching activities at the institute for computer Music and electronic Media of the folkwang Academy in essen, kingston University in london, the sonic Art research centre in belfast, and at the state Academy of Design in karlsruhe. ludger brümmer has received numerous awards for his compositions, including the golden mica of the ars electronica and the grand Prix de Bourges.
