* Walking in authority makes things happen!

* Power is the ability to do something.

* Authority is the right to use power.

* God gives us authority when we are all about His kingdom.

* Jesus had just granted authority to cast out demons, heal the sick, and preach the gospel to His disciples.

* Vs 17 - the disciples had authority when they did things “in Christ’s name.”

* Jesus has given all of us this authority today, when we use His name!

* Vs 18 - this is a throwback to Revelation 12 when Satan was cast out of heaven by God.

* Christ saw the same thing happening when those who followed Him walked in this authority.

* Two things can undermine your authority:

* 1) FEAR - Vs 19 - when you walk in authority the enemy comes against you.

* Don’t be afraid - nothing can injure you.

* 2) PRIDE - vs 20 - Don’t get jazzed up about your authority!

* Don’t fall in love with your fruit.

* Don’t freak out over your usefulness.

* Christ knew that walking in authority and seeing ossum stuff happen could get to our heads - so He tells us how to overcome:

* Gratitude! Thank God that you’re not going to hell!

* This will keep you humble!
