Luke 18:1-8: The Parable of the Persistent Widow | Sermon Audio

Listen Later

Pr. Nick preached on persistence, prayer, faith, and justice.

If an insensitive, unqualified, unholy judge is willing to give justice because of the persistence of the one continuing to come to him and ask, how much more will a holy, caring, loving and Heavenly Father listen and provide for you?

Jesus is drawing a contrast between this worldly judge and God the true judge — God is the opposite of the judge in this parable.

Prayer is not a ‘device’ to get us what we want or to manipulate the hand of God. It’s a channel or means of connection to the only one who has the ability to answer the way everything should be answered.

Persistent prayer is a picture of persistent faith and persistent faith is a belief that sticks with it…

…Persistent faith is confidence in God’s ability

…Persistent faith finds its confidence in the promises of God

…Persistent faith is acknowledgement that Jesus is the only one to turn to for He is the only one who can win the battle we are in.

When we recognize our battles are fought on our knees…

…We are freed from the burden because it’s his battle

…Persistence towards God starts to change the way we look at the problem and the people and our role within the things we are bringing to God
