* The fall-out from COVID has lots of people in a panic.
* Christ teaches us a better way - He walked in authority.
* Jesus showed the disciples that He had authority over nature, sickness, disease, and demons.
* When you walk in God’s authority you can rest when everyone else panics.
* Vs 22 - The “other side” was where the demons were - Jesus was going to pick a fight.
* He didn’t let Himself get comfortable in one place.
* Vs 23a - only a working man can experience true rest (Christ had finished His work).
* Vs 23b - A storm came as they walked in obedience to Christ’s command.
* Following His lead got them in trouble.
* Vs 24a:
* OBEDIENCE to Jesus put them in a life/death situation.
* They even got mad at Him - some gospels say, “Don’t you care?”
* When they woke Jesus it’s as if they said, “We told you this would happen, now we’re going to die! Why did you do this? We trusted you.”
* Wasn’t it faith that the disciples woke Jesus up to save them from the storm?
* EMOTIONS - Christ’s rebuke shows how you handle a situation emotionally matters when it comes to faith.
* True faith doesn’t freak out!
* Vs 24b - Christ rebuked the storm, thus revealing faith involves more than just believing God can do something, it’s walking in authority as you believe it.
* Faith doesn’t follow emotions - it uses emotions to do the right thing.
* Jesus didn’t let them pull Him into their frenzy - He rebuked the wind and waves.
* Vs 25a - KEY - Jesus rebuked their faith because THEY OPERATED BY FEAR WHILE WALKING IN OBEDIENCE TO HIS COMMAND!
* True faith involves not only obedience but trust - we remain at peace in the storm because we trust He is with us when we are doing what He told us to do.
