Have you ever signed up for something and realized later it was way more than you bargained for? That’s exactly where the disciples find themselves in Luke 9.

In this episode, we hit the major "hinge" of the Gospel of Luke. Up until now, the disciples have been watching from the sidelines, but today, Jesus hands them the keys and says, "Your turn." We’re talking about a massive shift from being a spectator to being a participant.

As we dive into the text, Jesus stops being just a miracle worker and starts talking about crosses and "losing your life to save it." It’s the kind of talk that makes us want to change the subject, but as we’ll discover, it’s actually the secret to finding real life. From the feeding of the five thousand to the glory of the Transfiguration, we’re looking at what it costs, and what it looks like, to truly follow Jesus when the "training wheels" come off.
