in conversation about her second novel, The Beleaguered.
Author Lynne Golding brings us a moving, beautifully told story of a true-life Brampton family’s experience of the First World War in her second novel The Beleaguered (Blue Moon Publishers), the second book of her Beneath the Alders series. The first book in the series, The Innocent (Blue Moon Publishers) , introduced us to young Jessie Stephens and her well-to-do family living in Brampton, Ontario in the year 1907. Four-year-old Jessie is curious about the mystery surrounding a family secret. When The Beleaguered opens, Jessie is 11 years old, still determined to unravel the family mystery—but it is August 1914 and Canada has just joined Britain for what some prophesy will be the most all-encompassing war in history.
