"Lyrical Leaps and Bounds" with Taylor Kurta

Listen Later

Taylor Kurta is an award-winning singer/songwriter, certified music therapist, and PhD candidate at the University of Waterloo. A SSHRC Doctoral Fellow and recipient of the Canada's Walk of Fame/RBC Emerging Artist Mentorship Prize, her research develops collaborative songwriting methods with people living with dementia to challenge stigma and promote inclusion. She currently teaches at the University of Toronto Scarborough, where she focuses on music and health in community and medical contexts.

Across everything she does, Taylor’s perspective is really grounded in seeing music not just as a therapeutic tool, but as a creative and relational practice that can be used for social justice.

We’re incredibly excited to have Taylor here with us today. Let’s dive in!
