Born and raised in Chicago on a diet of jackin’ house and acid heritage, Alinka first made a name for herself as a resident at the city’s legendary Smart Bar club. After cutting her teeth there for several years, she relocated to Berlin and set about bolstering her burgeoning production career. She makes throbbing, thumping house and tech with splashings of acid and electro worked in. It’s body music that’s made to be played loud and to be felt as well as heard. Releases on Crosstown Rebels, Lovecrimes, Classic and her own Twirl imprint have helped to make the world sit up and take attention, as have her ongoing collaborations with former Hercules & Love Affair contributor Shaun J. Wright—her sultry-toned creative muse who features heavily on this mix for us.

*How would you describe your sound?*

It's hard to describe it these days as I have many new influences but I'm always a Chicago House girl at the core.

*What and who inspires you and influences your sound?*

My friends, my surroundings, hanging out on different dance floors, and most importantly Shaun J. Wright.

*Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?*

This mix was different than any I've ever done as it's only original productions and remixes I've worked on. I hardly play my own music out so it was strange to hear it all collectively but also really fun. It got me a bit emotional because going through our whole catalog. It brought back a lot of memories and also a sense of pride in our progress and the music I've been fortunate to have worked on the past few years.
