Biblical Assumption 1: For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10
Biblical Assumption 2: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.”
Emotional Assumption: A Restless Discontent
BE It’s about identity/design: Who am I made to BE?
DO It’s about calling/purpose: What am I made to DO?
GO It’s about place/where: Where am I to live out my
BE and DO?
CORE IDENTITY: Who am I made to BE?
-Mistaken Identity of performance
-Mistaken identity of past hurts
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy but now you have received mercy. 1 Peter 2:9-10
TO BE: You are chosen (ref. Romans 5:8)
TO BE: You are holy: precious; set apart as God’s own
(1 Peter 2:9b)
How do we determine the value of a treasure?
We want to know who the maker is (ref. Psalm 139:13-14)
We want to know who the owner is (ref. 1Corinthians 6:19b)
We want to know how much someone is willing to pay
(ref. John 3:16, 1 Peter 2:10b)
TO BE: You are family (ref. Hebrews 11:16b, Ephesians 2:10)
TO BE: You are a priest (ref. 1Peter 2:10a)
Challenge
1: Be a royal priest. Ask: How might God want to use me?
2: Be a competent priest. “I can’t, but He can.”
