Madie Gines is a young adult who was diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) shortly after her mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This condition is a neurodegenerative disease that causes progressive muscle weakness. Even though it is difficult for her to speak, she was able to share her story with her own voice. While many of her friends are moving forward with their life plans, Madie is recalibrating and now bravely facing a new version of her life. The spiritual strength she felt during her mission, love from her family and friends, and support from the ALS Association have all helped her deal with this very difficult diagnosis.
