Madness at Sea: The Blood Bath on the Dutch Herring Lugger (part 2 of 2)

Listen Later

(Part 2 of 2) ๐ŸŸ On ย September 13th 1915 a Norwegian steamship comes across a driftingย  herring lugger in the middle of the sea. The ship, from the Dutch port of Katwijk, has been dismantled, the crew isย  singing hymns incessantly and on the deck they see... Pools of blood. ๐ŸŸ The ship would go down in history as the Gekkenlogger, the Crazy Lugger, and in Katwijk they still prefer not to talk about it. ๐ŸŸ What happened here? Was it religious madness or was there something else behind it? Something from the murky past...? ๐ŸŸ
