Palmer is a guy that has gone through a tough life. He was released out of prison after 10 years on parole after an aggravated assault on a classmates' dad. He feels that his life has no reason but when he stays with his grandma Vivian, he finds that Sam, a gender fluid boy, ends up staying with him. After some loss, Palmer steps up to grow as a father figure and helps the people in his life grow as well.
