Onesimus is Philemon’s fugitive slave and may have stolen from his owner.

            • He trusts God to use Paul’s heartfelt appeal for love and understanding.

                • Essentially: “Onesimus is living up to his name, will you live up to yours?”
                • The simple and yet powerful reminder?

                  Jesus changes everything!

                  • the gospel changes our entire outlook and redefines everything.
                  • We can read verses 17-21 as Jesus writing to God in our defense.
