There were nearly 9000 incidents of aggression recorded at these centres across the country between 2022 and 2023. The worst of those incidents saw a 55-year-old Centrelink worker sustain severe injuries after she was stabbed in Melbourne's north last May.

Now, the Minister for Government Services Bill Shorten has announced more than 300-million dollars in major security funding boost.
