As live-in tutor to a headstrong teen, Shay Walker has her hands full - and the girl's absentee father doesn't help matters, either. All Shay wants is to let loose and indulge in a birthday fling with the hottest stranger who's ever caught her eye. But her one-night stand turns out to be Jace Jennings, her student's long-distance dad, and now he's taking up residence at his lakeside estate and in Shay's most secret fantasies.
Jace isn't exactly a family man, but he's determined to do his best by his daughter - and the first step is forgetting how hot he is for her teacher. But close proximity and their heated connection keeps Shay at the forefront of his mind - even though it's obvious that she holds her heart in check. So does Jace - until they both realize that losing control just might mean finding forever.
Critic Reviews:
"An adorable five-year-old and a smart teenager-in-progress steal the show in this delightful tale that is both sizzling and heartwarming." (Library Journal)

Deadbeat Dad
As I said with the previous book in this series, I've been binge-reading Ms Ridgway's back list. Clearly this series is not one of her best but the story line is decent enough. This story is about the h from book 1's sister - we read bits about this h in that book. The h is the H's daughter's tutor. They meet one night at a pub, when they are snowed in. They don't realise who each other is and end up having a one night stand. You can guess the rest. There is major chemistry between them but the H is determined to put his daughter into a boarding school and return to Qatar(?) for work. It felt made up and an unnecessary block to the relationship. I'm also going to have to have a little break from reading this author's work because the storyline is pretty similar to a lot of others - "We have major chemistry but we can't be together" - which is usually from the H's perspective.
+++Spoilers+++
The real reason I can't give this book more stars is because the H comes across as a deadbeat dad. He hasn't had contact with his daughter for a decade and he knew exactly what his ex-wife was like. Pretty unforgivable, especially when he's intent in sending the girl to boarding school after summer.
I've already downloaded the third in the series about the brother to the h in the book (and to the h in book 1 obviously).
I loved Shay in this book
I loved Shay in this book. She was such a fun character and was entertaining throughout. The book introduces more of the family dynamics and gets us more involved with them all. Jace is a good match for Shay. She brings him out of his shell and he gives her a sense of belonging. The two are a great match and I really did enjoy this story. Jace's daughter was a fantastic character that brought out some humor and reminded me of the awkward teenage years. I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
Enjoyed it despite not being convinced by H/h's "issues"
I picked up this book with no great expectations and turned out to be very pleasantly surprised: it was well-written (though that isn't surprising since it's Christie Ridgway) and the tension between the characters worked.
