Adam sinned through a tree and covered himself with fig leaves.

So Christ comes in Holy Week to a fig tree full of leaves… and finds no fruits.

God is not looking for leaves, but for fruit. He curses it telling it that this will be the last time. As the fig tree caused Adam to sin, Christ curses the tree to tell it to sin no more.
