The simple secret: variety. Stop doing the same workout every day.


New research from the Harvard School of Public Health, published in the journal BMJ Medicine, demonstrates that switching up your exercise routine rather than just doing more significantly lowers your risk of death.


The researchers tracked over 100,000 people for more than 30 years and found that those completing a variety of activities, including walking, weights, tennis, cycling, and others, lived longer even if their total exercise times are the same.


Mix up your workouts using 2-3 different activities per week. It improves how your body adapts, reduces overuse injuries, and gives you more “bang for your effort.” 


So don’t workout till you drop out, rotate.  Isn’t this yet another form of moderation which is always the best policy.
