In this episode Cornbread & Buttermilk, tell what they have learned about the Southern Biscuit. Cornbread gives his listeners a recipe for Lard biscuits, in which one can swap out butter if one prefers. The southern biscuit is often overlooked in the culinary world. Cornbread believes the neglect comes from cooks taking too many shortcuts in preparing these delightful components of the Southern traditional table. To truly appreciate the unique experience Cornbread believes one must first eliminate the distraction of a meal, and concentrate on acquiring the best quality biscuit ingredients. White Lily all purpose flower, unsalted butter, (homemade is preferred), or good lard if you can find it, and of coarse whole buttermilk. I found a nice pastry knife from William Sonoma on Amazon that I would recommend to aspiring biscuit makers. As alway, we hope you enjoy the podcast, and if you learned something new, share it with a friend or family member. As always, God Bless y’all.
You can find Edward Phillips on YouTube. Go to @Edwardphillipsroots for more of his music. Learn about the history behind the Delta and Piedmont Blues. Edward brings the music of Sun House, Blind Willie Johnson, and Robert Johnson to life with his stories.
