On this week's episode of Space Connect Podcast, host Bella Richards chats to robotics expert Thierry Peynot, a professor leading a team at the Queensland University of Technology that has built a navigation and perception system that could be used for the Australian rover launching to the moon. Thierry talks about the difficulty in creating a product that can withstand the moon's environment, how he is solving that with a facility that can imitate lunar-like conditions, and how science fiction was the catalyst for his robotics career. Lastly, he speaks on why robotics is important, and how it can be improved upon in Australia for the benefit of the space industry.
