Making and modeling a DIY double scissors elevator able to load a 1 ton boiler (EP 1)

Listen Later

The aim is to construct a scissor lift. In this episode, the features of the elevator are studied (length of arms, stroke of the elevator, geometry, cantilever, how many scissors).

Plans have been integrated in the video.
Arms are machined. Several bushing are drilled and machined before to be welded.
Arms have been assembled to create scissors.
Several motorization possibilities are compared (screw, winch, hydraulic cylinder).
Finally, several possible locations for the hydraulic cylinder are discussed.
The law of conservation of energy is applied and explained in order to find the best position and inclination of the hydraulic cylinder.
In the second episode, the 3D model of the lift will be simulated.
