When Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr was arrested on the porch of his own house, he may have made some mistakes. But according to his long time friend and lawyer Charles Ogletree, one of them was thinking his class would make up for his race. On this edition, Professor Ogletree tells the story of the arrest that led to the infamous ‘beer summit’ at the white house. The incident has many lessons, which are detailed in Ogletree’s book, The Presumption of Guilt: The Arrest of Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and Race, Class and Crime in America.
