Sustainability in sport involves three main components or pillars of sustainability. We should think about economic security, social justice and environmental quality. The goal within sustainability is balance, balancing these 3 pillars so as to achieve the most sustainable practices in our current and future sporting world. Sustainability relates to sport by the equipment and facilities used, the means of viewing the event, the resources involved for powering and creating an event at a particular location, and much more. Social justice will be critical to the viability of sports going forward. Climate change has already made profound impacts on both local and global sports, and we should consider innovative ways of tackling this issue.
