In an effort to critically analyze the overlooked impact of mental health in sport, we speak with Cal State East Bay Division 2 athletes Delia Moore and Jordan Smith and bring back mental performance coach Lisa Bonta Sumii. In this impactful episode, all 3 guests speak about their why in pursuing athletics or a mental health in sport profession. We also dive into what it means to be a student-athlete, while balancing the pressure to perform, academically and physically among other commitments and how to seek out help when needed.
Thank you so much for listening in on this important conversation. Below, I have listed some resources. In terms of action steps, you can look to meditation for emotion regulation, journaling to slow down and reflect, or a self-care checklist. It is also helpful to regularly speak with a trusted mentor, know your campus resources if you are a student, set routines, and monitor your self-talk. As Lisa states, you are enough, period.
