Making Much of Jesus

April 23, 2023 . . .

Let’s take a closer look at Matthew 28:16-18 where Jesus tells His disciples that they are called to make more disciples.  In Verse 16, the disciples have gone to a mountain where Jesus told them He would meet them.  Then in Verse 17, we are told, “And when they saw Him, they worshiped Him: but some doubted.”  So, in Verse 18 Jesus reminds them that all power has been given to Him in heaven and earth.   And finally, in Verses 19-20, He tells them what they are to do.  We call this the “Great Commandment” and it applies to Christ followers today as much as it did then.  But first, we must submit to the authority of Jesus Christ.  We must GO with the message of Jesus to all nations, and this means all to of the 12,000 people groups in the world today.  That includes around 9 billion people, many who have never heard the message.  The goal is to reach them before they die so that they will have received the message that Christ “is the way, the truth, and the lifeJohn 14:6.  We must BAPTIZE them with the mark of Jesus.  We must TEACH others to obey the words of Jesus and LEAN on the presence of Jesus.  The foundation of everything is Jesus.  He has promised to be with us always to the end of the age when we truly follow Him and path upon which He has set us.  We are chosen and we may have to step out of our comfort zone to tell others about Jesus.  The center of the Christian life is Jesus Christ.  Don’t look at yourself….Look at Jesus!  He said it many times, “Follow Me.”
