Whitney Call and Mallory Everton, usually busy writing and acting in sketch comedy, took the pause created by the pandemic to make their first feature film, something they had been wanting to do for a long time. They are best known for their work as original members of the sketch comedy show, Studio C, and their multiple online tv-series, created by their own production company, JK studios.
The two join us to discuss their unique journey in filmmaking and share the meaning and practical wisdom that came out of making their pandemic inspired, COVID-comedy Stop and Go (2021), f/k/a Recovery, a film that premiers at SXSW '21. They cover some important lessons like, why you shouldn’t overthink your first film and the unexpected benefits of just starting with the resources you have. They also share wisdom such as what comedy has to offer in the face of so much suffering.
