Making the world a better place through NFTs - Komards NFTs

Listen Later

Welcome to Public Cloud for Public Good, a bi-weekly newsletter and podcast focused on making the world a better place. Whether that’s making peoples lives better, building services in the public & third sectors or thinking about coding more sustainably. This podcast is hosted by Aaron Booth, a Cloud Sustainability Consultant based in the UK.

This week Aaron is joined by Komard from Komard’s NFTs. First and foremost Komard’s NFTs are a pair of best friends who want to help make the world a better place and find a way to give back to the community of NFTs, real life communities and people from around the world. Every charity piece of art they create is a 1 of 1 and hand drawn using an iPad and Procreate. These collections are dedicated to a new charity with each collection released. For these NFT collections they donate 30% of the sales proceeds to the selected charity. As part of their overall goal and project they also plant 100 trees for every NFT sold from any collection. They do this to offset their carbon footprint and add positivity to the world.

Komard’s chosen organisation for our £500 donation is The Rose Knight Foundation. They take care of children and provide them with basic amenities such as food, clean water, shelter, clothing, and education. They are looking to end poverty and effectively tackle human/child trafficking. The Rose Knight Foundation wish to see everyone safe, sheltered, loved, and excited for their future. For more information and to donate you can visit their website: https://www.theroseknightfoundation.co.uk

The business who we have chosen to shine a light on for this episode is LifeStraw. A B-Corp certified company selling re-usable water bottles with a built-in straw designed to filter out harmful bacteria, parasites, dirt and micro-plastics. LifeStraw’s Give Back program ensures that for every product sold, a child in need receives safe water for an entire year. Since its inception in 2014, the LifeStraw Give Back program has provided over 6 million kids with a year of safe water. For more info you can visit their website: https://eu.lifestraw.com/en-gb
