There is a barometer that right speech has used through the ages to determine if the words that are about to be uttered are worthy of receptive ears. Socrates called it "The Test of Three," Rumi called it "The Three Gates." Before you speak up, ask yourself three important questions. Is what I'm about to say true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?
