The Restless Creatives

Maladaptive Daydreaming: What is it? And when does it become unhealthy?

Listen Later

#22: Today we talk about Maladaptive Daydreaming and how it has affected my life. Everyone daydreams, but Professor Eliezer Somer identified a much more acute version of daydreaming called Maladaptive Daydreaming. It's characterized by the following symptoms:

  • Extremely vivid or elaborate daydreams, almost like stories
  • Can be triggered by real life events
  • Difficulty completing tasks
  • Overwhelming desire to continue daydreaming
  • Repetitive movements while daydreaming
  • Facial expressions while daydreaming
  • Whispering or talking to self while daydreaming
  • Daydreaming for long periods of time

This week was an interesting one to research and plan. Hope you find value in this one.

Note: I'm not a doctor! Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I'm just a girl with a laptop and a mic, trying to make interesting things. Much love xx
