My encounters with Malaria playing a key part in history, and acting as a potent geopolitical player has evolved over time. There are 5 strains of Malaria all of which have the art of evading the immune system and being a walking if not dying pool for the parasite to spread. I have learnt that it is easy to spot in a red blood cell as it had tell tale DNA in a cell that would other wise be completely stripped of a nucleus. I consider that we shamefully don't care about "another country's that is not us" disease, not recognizing the real burden of having a population that has to carry a disease burden,.
