Four current students at Shabazz City High School along with Steve Stuckert, a former math teacher at the school, join Tony Castañeda on the Thursday edition of the 8 O’Clock Buzz to talk about the 50th anniversary of this innovative, alternative Madison high school. Malcolm Shabazz High School, started with a grant in the early 70’s, provides a more intimate and less intimidating learning environment than most large high schools. Named after activist Malcolm X, who changed his life through education, Malcolm Shabazz City High School will host a 50th anniversary celebration on Friday, June 2 on the school grounds at 2:00. A short program at 2:30 will include presentations from past Shabazz teachers. Current and former students, teachers, and parents, along with community members, are encouraged to attend.
