Crossover episode! This episode features special guest: Jevic Muteba of Pass The Baton Not the Patron Podcast.
Angel catches up with a friend from college to discuss how things have changed in the last 10 years since they've connected and what it is like being black in corporate America today.
A little more about Jevic:
Background: Born in Zaire (Now Named The Democratic Republic of Congo) Founder and Host of Pass The Baton Not The Patron Podcast. Sales Leader in the tech/startup world for over 10 years often being the highest-ranked black employee.
Outside of 9-5: Well 9-5 has never been 9-5 for me with clients and my team needing me around the clock. But I enjoy spending time with my family especially my niece, basketball, and finding good flight deals and booking flights with no return dates, and learning about new cities and cultures.
The Struggle of being Black in Corporate America: Besides being an African American man in America, it's fake/lazy "allyship" Temporary band-aids over wounds of oppression underestimate the depth and magnitude of the institutions that produce them. In order to truly help those in need, it's crucial to understand the systemic causes of poverty, racism, and other social inequalities.
