A new US study has found that mammograms can be used to predict heart disease by using AI to detect calcium deposits in breast arteries. Researchers analysed breast x-rays from more than 120,000 women who had undergone breast screening but had no known cardiovascular disease. Arterial calcification visible in breast tissue indicates a higher risk of heart attack, stroke and death.
