Mammography Screening Every Two Years Reduces False-Positives

Two new studies in Annals of Internal Medicine may help women and their physicians make more informed decisions about their individual mammography screening approach. One study compared the risk for false-positive recalls and biopsies on either an annual or biennial screening schedule. The other compared accuracy of digital vs film mammography. According to the study authors, mammography screening is important. The two studies should help women know what to expect in terms of false-positives when they participate in repeat screenings over time.
