Being human: Man and woman in relationship

The question of how men and women should relate to one another is a live issue in our society today amplified by social media access.

On this question, the Bible’s teaching focusses mainly on two areas of marriage and the church. This is helpful because marriage is the basic unit of a society and so ideas about how men and women relate to each other that are adopted within marriage, trickle down to the family, the community and, in time, define how men and women relate in society. It’s no wonder, that as God sets the foundations of humanity in Genesis 1 & 2, he defines the relationship between men and women within the context of a marriage. And yet, as Paul later explains, God’s purpose for marriage was to point forward to the eternal union between Christ and his church.
