Man-At-Arms

Everyday I rise for a fresh, new battle 

Who knows if I will be back home alive

How wild is the jungle that I have to cross

How skilled the sniper aiming at my heart

How big is the fight inside me

How far I can swim in a rough sea

What kind of fighter they wanted me to be

My ancestors never really told me

Every day, each fight is a daring adventure 

Full of tactics, retreats, a sense of wonder

How little I know about the art of war

How blessed I have been to live so far

I make mistakes, I continue to learn

Who knows when the sun will set on me 

I dream of far away, unconquerable land

A powerful, dreaded, fabled enemy

I dream of a fierce fight, with all I have got

A fight that will become a folklore, a story

Everyday the new me tries to fight

The strongest enemy that I can find 

Sometimes he hides deep inside me

My deepest scars and wounds tell me

It is the fight that makes you a hero

Not horrific defeat, not glorious victory
