A 32-year-old man has been arrested and charged with willful damage as a hate crime after deliberately ramming a black Toyota Hilux into the front gate of Brisbane's main synagogue on Friday night. CCTV footage captured the vehicle reversing into the gate, forcing a person standing nearby to run for cover, before the driver fled and later circled back past the synagogue and stopped outside the Queensland Holocaust Museum. Counter-terrorism police investigated the incident, which they believe was targeted but not an act of terrorism, with drugs and mental health identified as potential contributing factors.
