On May 7, 2008, Chamber Representative from Colombia, Jose Fernando Castro, died hours after vanish when presented a bill to members of a legislative committee of the cell, official sources reported.

Health Secretary of Bogota, Hector Zambrano, said that the congressman died of cardiorespiratory arrest three with possible brain damage.

Castro, officially part of the Cambio Radical, faded when the presentation of a bill of his own, to change the schedule for recreational bike paths that run in Bogota on Sunday and holidays.

The physician and Congressman Roy Barreras also provided first aid to Castro, and even supplied him mouth to mouth, and then moved into his vehicle at a clinical center.

House members complained that despite the calls for help, health teams in the Colombian capital was delayed more than 40 minutes on the scene.

The late congressman had served as the first Ombudsman, established figure in the 1991 Constitution.
