Patients with severe asthma account for a higher percentage of asthma-related morbidity and 50% of asthma-related costs. Unfortunately, a fair amount of these patients are managed with oral corticosteroids, despite the warnings and adverse events. The discussion will focus on the challenges encountered with oral corticosteroids and approaches to consider to improve the care of severe asthma patients.
