Hello, and welcome to a special episode of Adventures in Advising, a podcast hosted by Colum Cronin and Matt Markin.
COVID-19 has been declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO). It has affected the lives of billions of people around the world.
It has a huge impact on all aspects of the the Higher Education sector; many institutions have moved or are moving all their teaching and assessment online, and have asked faculty and staff to work remotely.
In this special episode Colum and Matt speak to advisors at a number of institutions to discuss the impact the virus has had. They reflect upon the concerns of international students, a particularly vulnerable cohort, thousands of miles away from home and anxious about immigration regulations. And explore the agility needed to respond to and cope with this constantly evolving situation.
In this episode you’ll hear interviews with (in order of appearance):
Cheri Souza - Counsellor at Kapi’olani Community College
Elizabeth Tisdale - Academic Advisor at the University of California, Riverside
Lauren Pattison - Immigration Advisor at the University of Central Florida
We’d love to hear from listeners. What did you enjoy? Are there improvements we could make? Are there specific topics you’d like us to cover, or people you’d like us to interview?
