The first objectively awful movie on the podcast, Tim & Ryan check out the infamous Manos: The Hands of Fate. The film follows... you what I don't have anything for you on this one. A cult is involved, there are women shackled up to pillars, and nobody got paid on this film, except for the little girl, she got paid in a doberman and a bicycle.

Behold, one of John Wayne's first starring roles and perhaps the first clitoris joke in film history.

The 2nd week of exploring the public domain is the first western on the podcast. The film follows John Wayne's character who goes unnamed until the very end trying to catch the polka dot bandit, who stole $4000 from a hotel safe. Working alongside the sheriff who is very suspicious of John, the investigation leads them to find way more than they ever expected to find, for better or for worse.

Also, the names of these stuntmen have to be the most stereotypically texan names to exist.

An episode with true educational content? Why yes, yes it is.

Exploring the public domain month begins with the movie that made a star out of Paul Robeson. The movie, based on the 1920 play of the same name, follows the path of corruption of Brutus Jones. Jones, an innocent church-going man, gets a job as a Pullman porter and heads to the big city up North. A road of fast women, gambling and a total misfortune of friendship lands Jones in jail. Once escaped, he gets on a ship and jumps overboard to a nearby island. The island, a tiny military dictatorship, is easily overthrown by Jones's wits, and he and the one white man on the island rule with an iron fist.

Here at Yubaba's bathhouse, you will find yourself in a tranquil state of being while tended to by our hardest working women and mid-stage animorphs.

Month of Miyazaki concludes with his magnum opus, and the most well regarded animated movie in current animation history.

The movie follows the young Chihiro, who must find a way to escape a spirit world populated by non-humans, and save her parents who have been cursed by a sorceress into becoming pigs. In this journey she finds Haku, and realizes that there are many like them who have lost their true identity because of the contracts they sign to work in the sorceress's business, an evening bathhouse for guardians and spirits who roam the Earth during the day.

This week we're looking at the most recent (and former final) movie of Miyazaki's. The film is a highly fictionalized telling of the life of Jiro Horikoshi, and aircraft designer who would go on to create the Japanese Zero (Mitsubishi A6M), one of the best carrier planes in WWII.

Week 2 of Month of Miyazaki takes us to Ryan's favorite of Miyazaki's films, featuring a whimsical world of witches, wizards, and blimp-based warfare. The film follows Sophie, a girl who was left cursed by a witch, causing her to become an old woman who can never speak of who put the curse on her. She stumbles across the movie title while leaving town and meets a young wizard in training, a fire demon who can control the movement of the house, and Howl, the mysterious wizard that is said to consume the hearts of those who get to close to him, when in reality he is a cowardly magician who refuses to participate in the war and is obsessed with his looks.

Everything's good, everything's great, nothing is wrong.

Ryan and Tim dive into the first anime on the podcast, and one of the most regarded of Miyazaki's works. The film follows the little adventures between two young sisters in their new home near a giant overgrowth that houses spirits of the forest. When they reveal themselves to the sisters, the sisters befriend the spirits and use them to ease the worries of their mother who is sick in the hospital. It's really just an overall feel good moment, but for like an hour and a half.

Holidays and health kept it at bay, but in the new year this flop is here to stay, whether we like it or not.

Titan A.E. is a sci-fi fantasy where humans are sparsely found in little floating space colonies after the spooky PS1 full-motion video lookin' Drej destroy the planet Earth. It's up to Cale, the son of the man who created a giant floating ship that holds the power to create a new planet for humans, to find and start up said ship. Besides the Drej, Cale must overcome his contempt for his current life to stop the extinction of the human race. This sounds like a studio killer, don't it?

This week Tim and Ryan look at the first DreamWorks film of the millenium, directed by the same guy who would later direct Shark Tale. Large yikes.

The film follows the thieving duo of Miguel and Tulio, who take a literal gamble on a map to the legendary city of gold that Miguel believes is so very real. When escaping from the people they conned with their loaded dice, they end up as accidental stowaways on the intimidating authoritarian Cortez's ship. Escaping the ship alongside one of Cortez's horses, they find themselves ashore in El Dorado. With the unplanned assistance from a fellow thief, they end up in the city of gold, where the people of city believe them to be prophesied returning gods.

Why is the tooth fairy some human hummingbird hybrid? Was there like some sort of fly-esque incident that lead to her looking like this? And why are her eyebrows so damn long? Whatever.

Tim and Ryan take on this 2012 Dreamworks movie that would end up being the first of a string of box office bombs for the studio. The movie follows traditional folklore characters (albeit with altered appearances) who protect the children of the world and receive all their powers solely through the children's belief in them. When the boogeyman returns after centuries to take back the Earth and restore the power he once had, the guardians big boss, the man on the moon, calls upon troublemaker Jack Frost as the new member. Jack must work with the guardians whether he wants to or not in order to keep the children of the world safe from nightmares, and to find out the past life he didn't know he had in order to find his purpose.
