When you see the word “upgrade,” you’re simply invited to help me make the sacred positively contagious...thank you in advance for becoming a free or paid subscriber.Proverbs 19:21“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.” (New International Version)Right now, somewhere around the world, a whole lot of people are staring at a screen.Stats say between one and two billion people will watch the World Cup Final.Spain versus Argentina.Literally — the whole world is watching.It’s the World Cup Final.Spain versus Argentina.And every fan watching has a plan.Well...they’re depending on somebody else’s plan.The right lineup.The right plays.The right substitutions.The right strategy.For weeks, people have filled out brackets, made predictions, argued with friends and confidently explained exactly how their team was going to get here.And when that final whistle blows...A whole lot of those plans are going to be wrong.Not because they were stupid plans.That’s just life.A Prussian general said it best:No plan survives first contact with the enemy.You can draw it up perfectly...and then reality walks onto the field.Proverbs 19:21 says:“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.”I don’t think Solomon is telling us not to plan.Plan!Study the film.Set the goal.Build the strategy.But leave some room for reality to surprise you.And leave some room for God.Because here’s something I’ve always found interesting.After a big game, somebody on the winning team will say,“I just thank God for the victory.”And I understand the gratitude.But I sometimes wonder...Was God against the other team?Was He planning for them to lose?I don’t think that’s the point.Maybe God’s purpose is bigger than the scoreboard.Maybe it’s bigger than whether your plan worked exactly the way you pictured it.Because sometimes...your plan can lose...without your life losing.The thing you wanted doesn’t happen.The door closes.The play breaks down.And somehow, somewhere you never planned to go...you discover purpose waiting for you.So yes.Make your plans.Make good ones.Just don’t confuse your plan with God’s purpose.One is the route you drew.The other is what can still prevail when the route changes.🔥 REMEMBERYour plan can fail without your life failing.🙏🏽 PRAYERLord, help me plan boldly and trust Your purpose completely.🎯 TODAY’S CHALLENGELook at one plan you're holding tightly today and ask: "If this changes, can I still trust that my life has purpose?"About the AuthorFred Lynch is a creative communicator, author, and Christian Hip Hop pioneer.
