“Maqām” is a piece dedicated to the victims of the Palestinian massacre — and to all lives shattered by acts of collective violence around the world.
The title refers to the modal system of Middle Eastern music, a language shaped by memory, emotion, and the subtle tension between grief and resilience.
In this composition, the maqām becomes a space of mourning: suspended drones, fractured melodic lines, and unresolved harmonies trace the outline of a sorrow that finds no consolation. The music moves in slow circles, like a ritual of remembrance, allowing each sound to carry the weight of a story that can no longer be told.
“Maqām” is conceived with the future in mind, giving room to silence and to mourning.
A moment of listening for those who can no longer speak.
A place where sound becomes witness.
