The Mike Hosking Breakfast

Marama Davidson vows to stick to her activist roots

Listen Later

The new Green Party co-leader is highlighting her connection with grassroots issues, as the party moves on fully equipped.
Party delegates voted Davidson in as female co-leader over Julie Anne Genter by a wide margin - 110 votes to 34.
The party's been without a co-leader since Metiria Turei resigned in August last year.
Davidson says she was a social, environmental and economic activist for a long time before she was an MP.
She told Mike Hosking her priorities haven't changed.
"Those are the progressive causes that I am going to keep pushing, I am really proud of my work on those very progressive causes - you know homelessness, oil drilling, standing up for clean rivers."
