Marc Thurman and Luv Hooks are two people who are dedicating their careers to educating the youth.
Marc is the Coordinator for the Center for Diversity and Inclusion at Landmark College and runs three different centers: the Women's Center, the LGBTQA Center, and the Rise Up Center for students of color. Luv is an 8th grade science teacher, and grade level chair at North Star Academy in Newark, NJ.
Over this hour long interview the three of us discuss our reactions to the past weeks events surrounding the murder of George Floyd (3:10). As a white man its difficult but extremely important to start these conversations (9:55). Deciding to respond with compassion/having this conversation with people who have not been aware (10:50). Educating yourself on history and the impact social media has played within the Black Lives Matter movement (18:00). Drew Brees Comments on the National Anthem protest (25:00). Right now its easy to be apart of this movement (39:15). Specific steps we can make to move forward in a positive manor when it comes to social injustice (47:20).
